NPR Jazz Profiles, hosted by Nancy Wilson
Episode:  "Jazz in Song - The Jazz Standard"

Jazz has always thrived on a bedrock of popular songs: tunes drawn from the blues to bossa nova, from Tin Pan Alley to rock, from Broadway to R&B. Over time, certain songs prove strong and fortunate enough to become standards.

In this episode of "Jazz Profiles", two of Jobim's songs which have become standards are played - "One Note Samba" performed by Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd - and "The Girl From Ipanema", performed by Stan Getz, Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto and sung by Astrud Gilberto.
