 Introduction

I feel like someone who has just discovered a treasure. No, I'm not totally new to Sergio Mendes, but I am new to all his various styles of musicianship as evidenced by the albums he has produced spanning four decades. For years, all the Mendes I owned consisted of The Brasil '66 Greatest Hits album. I liked it a lot, but I didn't investigate SM further due to my devotion to other musicians--and as a result, just never got around to hearing all the music that is Sergio Mendes. Until now. I got so inspired after hearing some of the early instrumental albums made in Brazil that I just had to put this tribute website together in his honor. I will keep exploring all there is about this terrific musician, arranger, and producer in endeavoring to keep this site updated. I will include new releases and news of Sergio's doings as it becomes available. Welcome to The Salute to Sergio Mendes!
